  • Your 2019 Diva Sewing Retreat will feature the Kelly Anorak, by Closet Case Patterns.  In this 5-day sewing workshop you will use the Palmer/Pletsch Tissue Fitting Method to achieve a great fit, also making adjustments in length and style to make this jacket all yours.  I've made it and cooked up construction improvements for sewing ease and better durability. You may choose to line your coat, add breast cargo pockets, and my fave-the little zipper pocket on the inside of the placket.   Options are limited only by your imagination. I've set up Rosie the Riveter with new dies for spring snaps and #1 grommets (they have 1/4" holes) in brass, antique brass, nickel and white.  I will provide this hardware.  You will need the pattern (in tissue), fabric, zipper, thread, interfacing, drawstring material (cording or whatever you want).  I'm looking into the best elastics and cord management bobbles, so stay tuned for those.  The best thing about the Kelly Anorak is that you will WEAR it.  All. The. Time.  More pics and deets to come. Dates:  March 28-April 1, 2019 Times:  9:00am to 5:00pm location:  Seam Divas Sewing Lounge The Diva Retreat is by invitation only.  Please only use this link if it has been sent to you by email directly from helen@timp10.sg-host.com. XO, Helen ❤️

  • Focus on FIT Learning the art of fit is imperative for successful garment sewing, and it’s my personal specialty as a teacher.  Learn the Palmer/Pletsch Tissue-Fitting Method using any commercial pattern.  If you have sewn and struggled with fit, this track is for you.  I know you will LOVE the results. I recommend all my fit students start with Palmer/Pletsch for McCall’s pattern 6750 or 7575 -- both great blouses for learning fit. In general, it takes a student about 6-10 hours to trim the pattern, pin fit, alter the tissue, cut from fabric, and do the first fabric fitting. Then you complete the sewing at home or join one of our Open Sewing days!  Just think that altering your pattern will take you about 1/3 of your total project time.  Like everything, you get faster and better as you practice.

Prerequisite: Advanced beginner sewing skills 12 hours in 3 sessions, $225 Pattern Fitting for the upper body OR Fit review (if you've already taken FIT and want to do more patterns, you can sign up for these sessions at a 10% discount!  Use code REPEAT10 at checkout) Wednesdays Dec.. 4, 11 & 18, 2019  1:00PM to 5:00PM
